Straddling France and Switzerland, the Jura massif offers you one of the most beautiful mountain bike trails. Let yourself be tempted by an unforgettable crossing, enjoy a landscape made up of deep gorges, almost Canadian forests with magnificent green spaces.

With its high plateaus which extend from the Cluse de Nantua to the Retords plateau. Between Montbéliard and La Pesse you will enjoy approximately 289 km of crossing on a route, from Crêts en Val between 300 and 1500m of altitude.

With accommodation in comfortable and friendly hotels or bed and breakfasts for each night, you will have the opportunity to taste local products, such as wine or cheese, from a long tradition of dairy farming illustrated by the Montbéliarde breed. .

  • Day 1: From Montbéliard to St-Hippolyte

Distance: 45 km / Elevation +: 1040 m / Elevation –: 980m

Departing from Montbéliard, you join Mandeure along the Allan, by country roads and paths. First stage in the country of Montbéliard until Pont-de Roide, you will enjoy paths and paths on the banks of the Doubs. From Pont-de-Roide to St-Hippolyte, a slightly more demanding route, with beautiful passages in the forest and in open fields.

  • Day 2: From St-Hyppolyte to Fournet-Blancheroche

Distance: 48km / Elevation +: 1480m / Elevation –: 1000 m

Today, rendezvous with the Doubs River and Switzerland. Starting from St-Hippolyte and passing through Fessevillers, gateway to the Doubs gorges, you pass through the village of Gaumois, a local mecca for trout fishing. A beautiful stage along the Doubs between France and Switzerland where the river offers you beautiful landscapes. Arrival at Fournet-Blancheroche in the high pastures.

  • Day 3: From Fourmet-Blancheroche to Pontarlier (or La Perdrix)

Distance: 51 km / Elevation +: 1000 m / Elevation –: 1060m

A beautiful stage always along the Doubs passing by the jump of the same name where the meanders of the river offer you a popular stopover. On the way, you will have the opportunity to cross more than 18 barriers, without getting off the bike. You pass through Morteau, land of the famous smoked sausage. A solid and fortunately rolling stage. You arrive in the land of absinthe, on the plateaus above Pontarlier.

  • Day 4: From Pontarlier (or La Perdrix) to Mouthe

Distance: 54 km / Elevation +: 1170 m / Elevation –: 1200m

Under the supervision of the Château de Joux, guardian of the Doubs valley, you cross the Republic of Saugeais with its borders monitored by a "customs officer". At midday, you go to Métabief, a mountain biking hotspot since 1993 where (optional) you can go down Mont D'or. Bucolic arrival at the end of the day at the source of the Doubs.

  • Day 5: From Mouthe to Les Rousses

Distance: 44 km / Elevation +: 890m / Elevation –: 700m

You pass through the heart of the upper Doubs via a rolling route where you can see Lake Bellefontaine, a Natura 2000 classified site, the most protected wetland in Franche-Comté. You can admire the magic of its arctic-type vegetation. Then it is the crossing of the great forest of Risoux to arrive at Les Rousses.

  • Day 6: From Les Rousses to La Pesse

Distance: 43 km / Elevation +: 990m / Elevation –: 930m

After admiring the Fort des Rousses built in the XNUMXth century, vestiges of the fight between the Napoleonic and Austrian armies, you have the opportunity to visit its high coombs, its meadows and its sumptuous forests with technical and playful trails. Arrival by mountain bike at La Pesse, end of the trip. Transfer to Bourg en Bresse train station to take the return train to Montbéliard or possibility of transfer by vehicle from La Pesse to Montbéliard.
